Statty Stuff: 201 to 300

New entries: 31
Re-entries: 1
Risers: 14
of which, New Peaks: 6
Non-Movers: 0
Fallers: 54
Ever-Presents: 2

Biggest rise: 67 places (coming in the 201-225 group)
Biggest drop: 183 places (Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water, 100-283)

#226 to #250

226 (185) Sunburn - Muse [n,n,158,188,185] Showbiz
227 (176) At My Most Beautiful - R.E.M. [n,n,n,126,176] In Time (Best Of)
228 (NE) Cause=Time - Broken Social Scene
229 (197) Optimistic - Radiohead [n,n,n,155,197] Kid A
230 (187) Muscle Museum - Muse [n,n,n,214,187] Showbiz

Four minor fallers, and a second Broken Social Scene entry. The first was in the top 20 last year; this one isn't quite so impressively high. The top of two songs to have the equals sign in the title.

231 (98) Moonshine - Feeder [n,n,32,91,98] Comfort In Sound
232 (215) Scattered Black And Whites - Elbow [n,n,n,182,215] Asleep In The Back
233 (NE) We Will Become Silhouettes - Postal Service Give Up
234 (165) Nightswimming - R.E.M. [n,n,n,257,165] In Time (Best Of)
235 (160) Folded Paper Figures - Hell Is For Heroes [n,n,n,n,160] Transmit Disrupt

A spectacular fall for Feeder's 'Moonshine' after 3 years in the top hundred... another REM song falls in a bad year for them. Plus, a new entry for one of my favourite new bands in the countdown, the Postal Service.

236 (152) Pain - Jimmy Eat World [n,n,n,n,152]
237 (220) Path - Apocalyptica [n,n,110,n,220]
238 (287) Conspiracy Of One - Offspring [n,n,n,272,287] Conspiracy Of One
239 (266) No Surprises - Radiohead [n,n,193,207,266] OK Computer
240 (173) Slow Hands - Interpol [n,n,n,n,173] Antics

So despite the exit of the past #1 by Four Star Mary, there remains a song called 'Pain' in the chart. Jimmy Eat World's one falls, though, so this is the first year there hasn't been Pain in the top 200.

241 (95) The Meaning Of Life - Offspring [n,n,n,n,95] Ixnay On The Hombre
242 (289) They Will Call Us Savages - Hell Is For Heroes [n,n,n,n,289] Transmit Disrupt
243 (219) Salt Sweat Sugar / Bleed American - Jimmy Eat World [n,n,n,n,219] Jimmy Eat World
244 (109) Song 2 - Blur [n,n,68,60,109] The Best Of
245 (218) High - Feeder [n,n,n,111,218] Polythene

Possibly the biggest riser so far from Hell Is For Heroes, with "They Will Call Us Savages". You might have heard of the Blur song at 244 ;) #243 has two titles because of a legal rethink after 9/11. The album was also called 'Bleed American', but the one I have is eponymous.

246 (NE) On Every Street - Dire Straits Sultans Of Swing - Best Of
247 (NE) There's No Such Thing As A Jaggy Snake - Biffy Clyro Infinity Land
248 (150) Evil - Interpol [n,n,n,n,150] Antics
249 (NE) The Everthere - Elbow Leaders Of The Free World
250 (RE) 88 Lines About 44 Women - Nails [n,n,n,269,n]

Wheee! Lots of new entries here. A classic Dire Straits songs finally gets a mention. The Biffy entry is the first title in this year's rundown to feature a (non-human) animal. Then we have one of the seven deadly sins (the only one in the top 300, AFAIK), a rather nice Elbow album track (release another single, damnit!), and the only re-entry, from the Nails.

#251 to #275

251 (156) Hysteria - Muse [n,n,n,156,156] Absolution
252 (114) 2 + 2 = 5 - Radiohead [n,n,196,19,114] Hail To The Thief
253 (230) Starcrossed - Ash [n,n,n,228,230] Meltdown
254 (NE) Here Comes Your Man - Pixies Doolittle
255 (233) Learn To Fly - Foo Fighters [n,n,61,159,233]
The Foos' classic falls again, but not by so much this time. Plus a new one from Pixies, and three singles by top artists just failing to make the top 250.

256 (NE) It's A Hit - Rilo Kiley
257 (133) Champagne Supernova - Oasis [n,n,n,n,133] (What's The Story) Morning Glory?
258 (153) Daylight - Coldplay [n,n,n,n,153] A Rush Of Blood To The Head
259 (NE) Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin Early Days: Best of vol. 1
260 (104) Broken Bricks - White Stripes [n,n,n,n,104] The White Stripes
It's the only of Rilo Kiley's hits to make it as far as the top 300, and the first of two Led Zeppelin songs. Plus a few album tracks. At least, I don't think Champagne Supernova was a single...

261 (295) Pilgrim Soul - Feeder [n,n,n,n,295] Pushing The Senses New Peak
262 (248) Fifteen Minutes Old - Snow Patrol [n,n,n,n,248] Songs For Polar Bears
263 (88) Asleep - Smiths [n,n,n,n,88]
264 (175) Five Kids Go - Hell Is For Heroes [n,n,11,28,175] The Neon Handshake
265 (91) Cochise - Audioslave [n,n,n,97,91]
Pilgrim Soul is rising from last year's entry position. Behind it, a couple of slower songs followed by a couple of heavier ones.

266 (182) Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead [n,n,33,112,182] The Bends
267 (NE) Good Weekend - Art Brut
268 (170) Half The Lies You Tell Ain't True - Stereophonics [n,n,n,124,170] Performance & Cocktails
269 (280) When The Faction's Fractioned - Biffy Clyro [n,n,n,n,280] The Vertigo of Bliss New Peak
270 (NE) Beat Mama - Cast
An old classic at #266, and another fairly old (well, 1999) song finally getting recognition at #270. In the middle, a sandwich where the bread is songs you might not know, and the filling is one of only a few remaining Stereophonics tracks. "Just Looking", a former ever-present, is gone this year.

271 (273) What Difference Does It Make? - Smiths [n,n,n,n,273] The Very Best Of New Peak
272 (267) Day By Day - Serafin [n,n,n,177,267]
273 (123) Hypnotize - White Stripes [n,n,n,64,123] Elephant
274 (NE) Leaders Of The Free World - Elbow Leaders Of The Free World
275 (NE) Invincible - Muse Black Holes And Revelations
The first new entries from the two of the best albums since my last rundown are here - a long one from Elbow, and a slow one from Muse.

Frag Top300 2006... #276 to #300

So it begins...

276 (up 21) Hey Boy Hey Girl - Chemical Brothers [48,57,169,191,297] Singles 93-03 Ever-Present

278 (NE) Down In The Tube Station At Midnight - Jam Compact Snap!
279 (NE) Decent Days And Nights - Futureheads
280 (NE) When You Come Back I Won't Be Here - Easyworld
Our first ever-present is from popular dance act The Chemical Brothers... also in this set, we have the Futureheads only entry. One song they've covered *is* higher up, mind.

281 (down 149) Three Of Clubs - Hell Is For Heroes [n,n,86,131,132] The Neon Handshake
282 (down 176) Astro - White Stripes [n,n,n,n,106] The White Stripes

284 (down 110) For Tomorrow - Blur [n,n,n,n,174] Modern Life Is Rubbish
285 (NE) Smithers-Jones - Jam Compact Snap!
First entries here from The White Stripes, The Jam, and Blur, all of which have several more higher up. That's your lot for Deep Purple, though, and the massive 183-place drop is going to be one of the biggest in this rundown.

286 (down 91) The Dark Of The Matinée - Franz Ferdinand [n,n,n,171,195] Franz Ferdinand
287 (down 133) Come Back Around - Feeder [n,n,72,134,154] Comfort In Sound
288 (down 111) Lithium - Nirvana [n,n,5,11,177] Nirvana
289 (down 106) She Bangs The Drums - Stone Roses [n,n,n,87,183]
290 (NE) Private Investigations - Dire Straits Sultans Of Swing - Best Of
Yep, I once had a Nirvana song in my top 10. Twice, actually (Smells Like Teen Spirit was #7 in 2002). They're dropping like flies out of the chart now: Lithium is the only one left.

291 (NE) Made Of Stone - Stone Roses
292 (NE) She's Hearing Voices - Bloc Party Silent Alarm
293 (down 25) Knives Out - Radiohead [n,n,n,208,268] Amnesiac
294 (NE) Mornings Eleven - Magic Numbers The Magic Numbers
295 (NE) Clark Gable - Postal Service Give Up
296 (NE) Like Spinning Plates [live] - Radiohead I Might Be Wrong [live]
297 (down 126) Shiver - Coldplay [n,n,n,n,171] Parachutes
298 (down 97) We Can't Rewind - Feeder [n,n,n,180,201] Echo Park
299 (down 60) Let Down - Radiohead [n,n,155,261,239] OK Computer
300 (NE) E Talking - Soulwax
A set of many new entreis, and the first three of more than 20 Radiohead songs in the top 200. Well, they've had 6 studio albums, plus their live album. One more from IMBW[LR] is higher up. Bloc Party are a band on the up this year, and they also have their first entry in this set.
